ABOUT THE ARTIST: TINA BRACKMAN
Born and raised in Topeka, KS, performance artist Tina Brackman has a unique talent to create immersive works of art that allow viewers to experience and participate in the world through her eyes and build understanding around shared experience of modern day America. Tina began to explore art during high school with ceramics but did not begin practicing her own artistic practice until she attended classes at Washburn University for art therapy. This coursework was the springboard for Tina’s dive into her double masters’ in clinical counseling and art therapy degrees, which has a heavy influence on her current work.
ABOUT THE INSTALLATION
11:11 in Broken Glass focuses on the in-between and moments where we have been waiting for a notification. In our desire for something to fill that space, we have become tied to anticipation. The in between spaces are now filled with an invasiveness we thrive on or trudge through daily.
Viewers will be able to take an active role in the real-time creation of the work of art through the same technologies that often keep us waiting.
This installation is made possible through the ArtsConnect Resource Partners Initiative, which is supported by the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Topeka Community Foundation and a group of dedicated individual donors.
