Arts = Jobs

ArtsConnect released economic impact surveys of the City of Topeka in 2014 and in 2024. The 2024 analysis found that, in the city of Topeka, the nonprofit arts and culture industry generates $45.4 million in annual economic activity and supports 1,003 full-time equivalent jobs.

This activity generates nearly $1.2 million in direct revenue to the City of Topeka & $1,695,431 to the State of Kansas. The study also notes that 1 in 5 visitors to Topeka are attending arts-related events, and that these visitors spend more than twice the amount of money on these activities that is spent by resident attendees. That being said, 83% of Topeka arts audiences are local residents - and so it’s very important for event producers to remember this when programming decisions are made.

This is all according to Arts & Economic Prosperity VI, a national economic impact study conducted in 373 diverse communities across the United States, representing all 50 states and Puerto Rico. used along with local data to evaluate the impact of the arts in Topeka.
